2010 Band

Beginning and Intermediate Band will begin on the second week of school in September. Please have your instrument, binder and pencil with you at the first class:

• Ste. Anne/Richer Intermediate Band: Monday September 13
• Arborgate Bands (Beginning and Intermediate) Tuesday September 14
• Ste. Anne/Richer Beginning Band Wednesday September 15

About practice:

Band is about building skills and abilities - technical, reading, knowledge skills and the ability to DO musical things, to realize the knowledge. The best (and pretty much the only) way to build these skills and abilities is by personal private practice. So, parents, if you are not hearing the instrument at home, then chances are your budding band student is not going to be keeping up. It doesn't take much time each day - just 10 - 15 minutes - and the skills will appear! It will sound better!!

Concert assignment:

All band students have an assignment to attend a band or orchestra performance - one this semester and one next semester. It must be documented according to the handout distributed in class.  The due dates for this assignment are January 22 and June 1. Remember the performance needs to be at least one grade level above your own!

 

When is band in September 2010?

• Ste. Anne/Richer Beginning Band on Days 1 & 4, 2PM - 3PM
• Intermediate Band on Days 2 & 5, 2 PM - 3 PM
• Arborgate Bands (Beginning & Intermediate) Days 3 & 6, afternoons
